In 2023 a group of little league coaches wanted to find a way to keep coaching together and keep this core group of kids playing baseball together after they aged out of Little League. We didn't know what it would turn into, but we knew we had a great group of kids that loved playing ball and dedicated (and somewhat talented) coaching staff. So we found a gym space and started holding winter training workouts.
After exploring several options we decided to create our own team and use the unaffiliated "Junior Dogs" travel ball model that was developed by a group of similar minded coaches in Cape Elizabeth. We hustled to put our own schedule together, playing once a weekend, and entering ourselves into a Memorial Day Tournament in Massachusetts's. In addition we put together a 10U tournament team that played at Maine's Little Fenway Park after the Little League season ended, targeting kids who wanted to keep playing baseball but didn't have the opportunity to play on the All Stars team.
In 2024 we officially established ourselves as a non-profit organization and have opened up registration for the 2024 season. We are targeting 4-5 teams from 10-14U, with an estimated 60+ kids participating.
We believe there’s a strong need and desire for a more affordable and local based travel baseball program. By focusing locally and keeping Portland kids together, we can build a strong baseball community, help kids develop their skills and prep them for high school ball while having a whole lot of fun.
